I met with a godly friend several months before we started deputation.
We took our kids to Chuck E. Cheese, and somehow, between all the chaos, we managed to have a conversation! :) She told me something I will never forget. And I hope that any woman who finds herself in my situation will never forget it either.
She told me that the best thing I could do before we started traveling was to work on my relationship with God and my marriage. That those two things would be my lifeline. But that they would also be under attack, so I needed to be strong in those areas.
I have really given myself to these, and with God's help, I know that I have gained some ground. There is still much to be accomplished and I am not perfect, but I feel an intimate strength between the Lord and I, as well as between my husband and I.
I'm so thankful for that friend and her willingness to speak candidly with me!!
